I'd absolutely recommend this rig as the price point and value you will get out of it seem to be right in the sweet spot. The pedal mount area is quite adjustable to whatever angle/height you want, but there's a certain limit to how low the pedals can be mounted due to the height of the 8020 pieces that it attaches to the side of the rig with (unless you get the wheel casters or raise up the rig in some other way) If you get a different seat, the ones that require brackets to mount, those brackets usually allow seat angle adjustability (something like this seat (UK site) (see how it has the side bolts), and something like this bracket) There may also be seat brackets that exist for regular car seats that I'm not aware of as I didn't need to look into that option. I bolted a used mustang passenger seat to my rig as the seat, so the angle of the seat mount is not adjustable. Bonus though: I wasn't going to use that for anything, and now I have a spare piece of 8020 black anodized extrusion for later DIY purposes. In my case the extrusion parts I received didn't quite exactly match up with the instructions so that little side "arm" on the rig I wasn't able to make happen with the pieces I got. Obviously you have to put it together, they have instructions on their site on the product page. It arrives as two boxes, one box filled with 8020 extrusions and one box of assorted bits (wheel plates, gussets, various covers, all the tnuts and bolts (bolts were all oily, I emailed Marcus the owner of rigmetal and he's aware but it's a sourcing issue so for now it is what it is, didn't get my carpets oily as I put it together with a drop cloth underneath it all, but my hands and everything I touched during the process ended up needing a little cleanup afterwards) It doesn't come with a seat you have to purchase that separately. I recently purchased the Rig Metal Plus cockpit so if you have other specific questions for that rig I can do my best to answer them. Thanks so much, I appreciate your input and opinions. The TR160 looks good but is expensive at $900 without a seat, $1180 with a Rally seat.Īre there better options that ship to the USA? Better deals? Better upgrades possible, like adding an adjustable keyboard tray? I play mostly in VR, but would consider an option to add a screen so it can function as a general gaming rig and for casual computer use, as I would likely not have a desk. If not rigmetal, I would consider GT Omega's Prime Cockpit at $666 without a chair, the chairs they could add aren't bucket and I've heard adjustable chairs flex. Where can I buy a good bucket seat? I intend to race mostly open-wheelers, but I don't want my neck to be bent too far out of shape, so I'd like the freedom to adjust the angle of the seat. I intend to buy the VRS DF base, so about 15-20nm. Budget is not firm, but I don't want to go beyond the average cost of a solid rig.Ĭurrently the best option I believe I've found is from and I don't know whether to choose the Rig Metal Plus for $450 or their Flagship for $670, apparently built to be more solid.
